Biodata

Cornelia Ilie is Professor of Linguistics and Rhetoric at Strömstad Academy, Sweden, and Visiting Professor at Hellenic American University, Athens, Greece. She was research scholar at Lancaster University, UK and U.C. Berkeley, and held visiting professorships at universities in Austria, Finland, Greece, Italy, Romania, Spain, and the UK. She is the founder and president of ESTIDIA (European Society for Transcultural and Interdisciplinary Dialogue), member of the ESF College of Experts, and Board member of IPrA (International Pragmatics Association).

Her research interests are interdisciplinary. She has published extensively on institutional pragmatics and discourse practices (political, media, business and academic discourses), intercultural rhetoric, and argumentation. Recent publications include the following books: International Encyclopedia of Language and Social Interaction (Wiley-Blackwell, 2015); Argumentation across Communities of Practice: Multi-disciplinary Perspectives (John Benjamins 2017); Challenging Leadership Stereotypes through Discourse: Power, Management and Gender (Springer 2017); Pragmatics and Its Interfaces (John Benjamins, 2018); Teaching Business Discourse (Palgrave Macmillan 2018); Questioning and Answering Practices across Contexts and Cultures (John Benjamins, 2021).
