Biodata

Maurizio Alì is Maître de conférences (Associate Professor) at the National Institute for Teaching and Education of the Academy of Martinique, Université des Antilles.

He has conducted extensive fieldwork with several Indigenous communities, including the Kuna (Tule) in Colombia, the Wayana-Apalai in French Guiana, and the Enata in French Polynesia. 
His research has also included participant observation within a neo-shamanic movement in Bogotá, historical research on a missionary congregation in the Amazonian foothills, studies on the contemporary use of pre-Columbian technologies in the Andean region, and analysis of media representations of ethnic issues in South America.

Before joining the Université des Antilles, he taught at Universidad Santo Tomás and Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (Bogotá, Colombia).

He is currently a member of the Research Unit Contextes, Recherches et Ressources en Éducation et Formation (CRREF, Université des Antilles), and an associate member of Études Approfondies des Sociétés Traditionnelles et Contemporaines en Océanie (EASTCO, Université de la Polynésie française) and the Interuniversity Centre for Indigenous Studies and Research (CIERA, Université de Montréal).
